In my general fandom lurking I came across this meme on [livejournal.com profile] unfolded73's journal. This looks like a fun meme to do! Plus, it's something that can fill my journal with interesting things.

General idea is this: over the next 30 days I will attempt to post a response to the prompts. There are lots of questions for TV shows which is awesome as I have found myself watching A LOT of TV recently.

Day 04 - Your favorite show ever

Day 01 - A show that should never have been canceled

A hard one right out of the gate! I haven't watched too many shows that have gotten canceled before they should have. Firefly is an obvious choice for this, so I am not picking it because there are plenty of shows to talk about.

The Pretender

I remember this was the show I fell in love with from the pilot episode when I was a kid. Actually, I think it was the commercials before the show aired. I was WAITING for this show its premier night. I had a huge crush on Jared with his amazing genius and adorable wonderment at everything and anything we average humans take for granted. I mean, his addiction to PEZ dispensers was just too fun not to watch. Plus, they made it part of the show's DNA to have Jared fixate on random toys and food for each ep. Sydney was brilliantly just as fucked up as the people he studied and Michelangelo ...oh poor creepy-yet-huggable Michelangelo. Then there was Mr. Lyle and well....Oh.OH.

This is also the show that has the honor of being the first time I shipped characters. I was obsessed with X-files at the same time as The Pretender, but Mulder and Scully were always partners to me. Jared and Ms. Parker were my OTP. Which is why I was FURIOUS when NBC dicked over this show and shoved it onto a cable channel to finish its fourth season. I was mad because, yes, the writing for the third season wobbled around everywhere, and I understood why the ratings were flagging, but shoving a great show into the shadowy corner just isn't the way to treat it.

Plus, I didn't have cable and couldn't watch the rest of the show. Then, came the TV movies they made. These were awesome and really proved the potential of the show...until they NEVER made the third, and FINAL, movie that would have satisfyingly ended an epic character driven show.
